BACKGROUND:
Local Leeds based charity, Zest, is proud to announce the opening of our second teaching kitchen. Kitchen furniture and appliances supplied by Arlington Design.
KITCHEN DETAILS:
Created by Arlington Designer Kitchens using Moblituri Pop Graphite kitchen units, Caesarstone worktops, ovens by Haier. All other appliances supplied by Caple.
WHAT:
The Leeds Cookery School @ Kirkgate Market is a new purpose built kitchen designed with community at its very core. We will be delivering some fantastic community projects and have already planned the following activities for the new year.
- A welcome cafe helping to integrate refugees and people seeking asylum into the wider Leeds community, offering support, friendships and community.
- A men’s pie club – just guys making pies! Bringing men together to make and bake a pie while helping to tackle social isolation.
- Cookery skills classes – giving people greater control over the choices they make through teaching residents of Leeds how to cook healthy & affordable meals from scratch.
WHERE: Leeds Cookery School @ Kirkgate Market is located on the George Street side of the market.
ABOUT ZEST: Zest is an independent non-profit organisation and registered charity which offers support and opportunity to people living in disadvantaged areas of Leeds. We aim to address health inequalities and social isolation through activities which improve physical, mental, social, emotional and economic wellbeing. The organisation has its roots in East Leeds, but now works citywide.

The Leeds Cookery School is a cookery school with a conscience, a social enterprise and a company limited by share. Zest is the only share holder. The Leeds Cookery School gifts 100% of it’s profit back to Zest to support it working toward it’s vision of Leeds being a fair city where everyone has the same opportunity.
